OceanWatch has a long history of delivering extension services to the NSW oyster industry.
This encompasses a variety of projects, which support the implementation of best practice, helps identify & mitigate environmental risks, builds industry capacity & improves communication channels and networks.
Some of the specific activities delivered through this program include the:

Development & implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS),

Administration of devolved grant rounds to support the phase out of old cultivation methods,

Facilitation of industry – government - community events to build networks, educate and foster an understanding of industry needs,

Distribution of a bimonthly oyster newsletter and administration of the NSW Oysters website,

Establishment of a state-wide ‘Tide to Tip’ clean-up program, encouraging oyster farmers to engage in estuary clean-up activities, and

Organisation of disaster support sessions following the Black Summer of drought, fires & floods.
